Students in Ms. Lentz's 3rd grade math class are working in groups and getting practical with geometry. They're using square units to fill the space of different shaped rectangles, counting the rows and columns, writing the addition/skip-counting sentence, and then using that to multiply to find the area.
This kind of practical learning helps students visualize and truly understand key math concepts. We love seeing our young learners engage so deeply!

Mike Wright of Independence High School also attended the meeting since he is interning under the Tate County Engineer. Meet Gunnar! He has been working hard to stay focused and on task in ELA—and it’s paying off! He was the only third grader at Strayhorn Elementary to score a perfect score during Benchmark Boot Camp. Gunnar has set a goal each week to grow and improve on his cold read tests, and he nailed it!
As a bonus, he was one of the very first students to use our class vending machine thanks to the growth he’s shown. Way to go, Gunnar—we’re so proud of you! #TogetherAchievingTeamExcellence
