🐾 The Wednesday Weekly Wildcat News 🐾
It’s another wonderful Wednesday at East Tate Elementary, and our Wildcats have been busy exploring, creating, and moving! Here’s a look at the "Wildcat Way" in action this week:
🔬 Scientific Discoveries: 5th graders in Mrs. Burkey’s class are diving deep into their Science Interactive Notebooks! It’s amazing to see their observations and experiments come to life on the page.
💃 Math in Motion: Who knew long division or fractions could have a beat? Mrs. Casey’s students are mastering math through music and dancing. Learning has never sounded (or looked) so good!
📚 "Booked" with Butler: There’s nothing like getting lost in a great story. Our students are officially "booked" during their favorite reading time with Mrs. Butler.
✍️ The "Write" Stuff: Our 6th graders in Mrs. Mary’s class are showing they have the "write" stuff! From creative stories to persuasive essays, these Wildcats are sharpening their pens and their minds.
We are so proud of the hard work and energy our students and teachers bring to the classroom every single day!

The East Tate "Moving Up" Memory Post
Hi local peeps! 👋 Calling all our East Tate Elementary families!
Our 6th graders are officially in their "Senior Year" at East Tate! 🎓✨ To celebrate their big move to Independence High School next year, we are now booking 6th Grade Tribute Ads. This is not only a great place to show their growth by pairing a Kindergarten photo next to a 6th Grade photo, but parents can also include a special message just like in the senior yearbooks! Social media posts fade away, but a Yearbook Tribute lasts forever 📖❤️—it’s the perfect way to honor how much they’ve grown before they head off to high school.
Not a 6th grade parent? You can still join in! We are also offering "Love Lines" for students in ALL grades (K-5)! 📝 It’s a sweet, affordable way to leave a quick shout-out or a "we are so proud of you" message for your child to find when they open their book.
Want to save a spot? Space is limited! Drop a comment below or contact the school for details on how to submit your photos, your message, or your "Love Line." Let’s celebrate our Tigers and get them ready for the big move! 🐾🎉

East Tate Elementary is so lucky to have Mrs. Shelby as our school counselor! From big feelings to little worries (and everything in between), she is always there with a smile, a listening ear, and the best advice.
Thank you, Mrs. Shelby, for caring so deeply for our students, cheering them on, and helping them shine every single day. Our school is a happier, kinder place because of YOU! 🌟📚💛
Let’s give Mrs. Shelby some love in the comments! 👏

Hello Students and Parents,
I hope everyone has stayed warm and safe during the recent winter storm!
Wednesday, February 4th is World Read Aloud Day. While we had special activities planned at school, hazardous road conditions will keep us home. The good news is—you can still join the celebration from wherever you are!
Parents, I encourage you to read aloud to your children throughout the day and really engage them in the stories you share together.
Students, I encourage you to read aloud too! You can read to a parent, sibling, pet, stuffed animal, or even call a friend or relative and share a story.
Reading aloud helps build vocabulary, strengthens comprehension, and improves focus—and it’s a wonderful way to connect with others.
I’ve also included a link to Scholastic, which will be hosting read-alouds to K -3rd grade throughout the day.
I hope you’ll take time to celebrate reading aloud and have fun with it!
See you soon,
Mrs. Jones
