Ladykats Basketball - 2nd Round State Playoffs

Ladykats Advance to 2nd Round of State Playoffs!

After last night's win over Humphreys County Cowgirls, the Ladykats advance to teh 2nd round of State Playoffs.  The Ladykats will travel to Boonville on Saturday February 28th at 6:00.  Please come out and support our Ladykats on their bid for a position to play in the "Big House".

COUGAR Powerlifters Place 1st & 2nd in 1A Regionals

Congratulations to COUGAR powerlifters Montrayvious Boyce and Jamarcus Callicutt.  The Region 1-1A Powerlifting Meet was held on Saturday, February 14.  Jamarcus Callicutt placed 1st in the 165lb class.  Montrayvious placed 2nd in the 165lb class.  Both athletes will now compete in teh 1A North State Powerlifting Meet on March 7th at Calhoun City High School.

SES Regional Storyboard Winners SES Storyboard Winners

Evan Gordon won third place at the Regional Reading Fair Competition at Oxford High School on February 14th.  Payton Stanford also came in third at the Regional Reading Fair Competition at Oxford High School.  We are so proud of these SES students!

Strayhorn and Independence Students did Great in Dixie National Livestock Show

Strayhorn and Independence students did great in the Dixie National Livestock Show.  For the Balancer Bull competition, Tyler Ashe placed 1st, Bo Clem 2nd, and Ben Ashe 3rd.  Congrats also to Tyler and Ben who placed 1st and 3rd, respectively, in the Gelbvieh Heifer competition.  Good Job!

Independence FFA and Tate County 4-H member, Ty Goley, won "Reserved Champion" in the Mississippi Bred Spotted Hog 2015 Dixie Nationals competition.

Christian Powers places 3rd in Ole Miss Chess Tournament

Christian Powers places 3rd in the Ole Miss Chess Tournament

There were upwards of 40 participants in the K-12 division. Christian placed 3rd. For his 3rd place, he was awarded a 3 hour scholarship to attend the Pre-College Program at Ole Miss during which he can take college coursework.

IHS had five students sign with Mississippi Colleges this year:  Cody Weathers, Will Ray, Brandon Hailey, and Melik Herron signed with Holmes Community College; and Said Jones signed with East Mississippi Community College.  Congratulations!

"Jacob Scott" and "Kevin Dunigan"

High School Student Jacob Scott has earned the honor of Star Student this year by scoring a 31 on his ACT.  He has already been accepted into the Mechanical Engineering School at Ole Miss with several scholarships already tucked under his belt.

Jacob chose teacher and coach - Kevin Dunigan as the Star Teacher.  Coach Dunigan taught Jacob World History, U.S. History and was one of his coaches during football this year.  

Congratulations to both Jacob and Coach Dunigan!

Teacher of the Year - Shelly Scott

IHS Teacher Shelly Scott was elected as Teacher of the Year by her peers at IHS.  She was also chosen as Teacher of the Year for the Tate County School District and will represent Tate County at the State Teacher of the Year Conference in Jackson later on in the Spring.

IHS Girls Basketball - Headed to playoffs

IHS Girls Basketball are blazing a trail down the court with a 23-2 record.  Their win over Holly Springs on Tuesday ensured they remained undefeated in district play and puts them first seed in district playoffs. Way to go Ladies!!!

Jessica Ferguson selected as the Strayhorn High School Dairy Bar Athlete Of The Week

Congratulation to Jessica Ferguson.  She has been chosen has the Dairy Bar Athlete Of The Week.  Jessica was an instrumental part in leading the Lady Mustangs soccer team to a tie for second place in the division this year.  During the 2014-2015 season Jessica scored 12 goals.  Jessica is a senior and her leadership will be missed next year by her teammates.  Not only does she work hard on the field but Jessica has maintain a 3.62 GPA since her freshmen year. Thank you Jessica for your hard work.  We also would like to thank The Dairy Bar for sponsoring the Athlete Of The Week.  The athletes look forward to their free milkshakes!

Strayhorn Students Doing Great At The Spelling Bee

There were some Strayhorn students who earned their ticket to participate in the Tate County Spelling Bee on January 27th.  Students who were able to participate included Tyler Hall, Zander Grace, Tiffany Ferguson, RJ Smith, Kamien Boyd, and Tai Henrichs.  Our students left the event by capturing two of the top five spots throughout the entire county.  5th place belonged to RJ Smith, and after a long battle Tai Henrichs finished 2nd.  Thank you for all these students hard work and representing our school so well. 

Congratulations to our Coldwater Spelling Bee Participants!

Coldwater Attendance Center is proud of our participants in the Tate County Spelling Bee. Adrian Turner, Lekevin Winfield, Kimi Web, and Janesha Rodgers participated. Congratulations to Kimi and Adrian who placed in the top 10.
