Superintendent's Notice of Campus Security Upgrades

Over the summer the District has contracted with security consultants to have evaluations done of all of our facilities.  Through these evaluations we have learned a great deal about making each one of our campuses more secure for our children.  We will be working over the next few months to put these recommendations in place.  Many changes you will be able to see.  Some may not be noticeable without careful inspection.  All of the changes will be aimed at making our facilities safer and more secure for your child.  In some of the cases there may be a slight inconvenience from the way things were done in the past.  We ask for your patience and consideration as we make this transition.  Our goal in Tate County is to provide a quality education in a safe and secure environment.

Daryl J Scoggin, Ed.D.

Mississippi Workforce Student Survey

"We are working with the Mississippi Development Authority to help develop Business and Industry Sector Strategies for the State of Mississippi.  This is very important work as it will help determine which business areas the State of Mississippi will use the bulk of it's resources to enhance existing businesses and to help attract new ones.  For example, advanced manufacturing (Nissan, Toyota, Continental Tires), would be considered advanced manufacturing.  I'm attaching a student survey that MDA would like to have as many students complete as possible.  Please make time in your classes for them to work through this short document.  Please let me know if you have any questions."
Mike Mulvihill, Director of Office of Career and Technical Education.

Automotive Service Field Trips

1st picture
Above is a picture of the automotive technology class at the Tunica Hot Rod Car show. The students got to view and learn about the different Hot Rods in the area. This gives them a chance to see just how much time and money goes into a Hot Rod.

On October 1st 2014 Mr. Andy Smith came to the Vo-tech center to talk to the automotive technology class about race cars. Some students take this class cause they want to learn how to build their own race car one day as a hobby rather than pursue it as a career. Some just take this class to know the basics while others wish to pursue this as a career. In the picture above Mr. Andy Smith is sharing his race car with the class. He also talked to the students about how important it is to NOT race on the streets.
3rd picture
On October 10th 2014 the automotive technology class went to the Tupelo automobile museum to learn about the history of cars. The students got to see vehicles from the very first automobile to today's latest edition. This field trip was a great eye-opener for the students. Above is a picture of Miss. Sarich's automotive technology first and second year class.
